What Fossils can you find at Eastbourne?

(Collecting Fossils from Eastbourne) - 2003

The most common fossils at Eastbourne are Ammonites, many of the rocks here (the very light gray ones) contains Ammonites when split. Additionally ammonites can be seen in many of the rocks, sometimes broken, worn and sometimes whole. There are some excellent shells to be found too and a variety of different echinoids, many of which can be found simply lying on the foreshore and with little cleaning to be done as the sea has done all the hard work.

In addition fossils such as sharks teeth and fish scales are also quite common, corals and sponges occasionally found as well.
